Tango has lately proven to be an extremely innovative field of activity with a growing diversity of flourishing business solutions. This paper draws on the concept of Cultural Translation to highlight the role of mutual appreciation of diversity for innovation in Tango and researches the underlying conditions for its success. Empirical evidence is collected in a multiple case study of businesses related to Tango in central Europe. The results suggest that innovations are driven by a constant need for negotiation about the meaning of the subject matter. Innovation management can support these activities by cultivating a space in which participants can develop corresponding interpretations of Tango without reconciling their differences.
